Last week was a busy one!

As I mentioned in my last post, it was a week on the road. I was in Saskatoon/Dakota Dunes for some training through work. I learned a lot about communicating with people with many different styles and connected with a lot of people within my industry (insurance, exciting, I know). On my way back, I swung into Saskatoon and met up with Barry James McKay at Winston’s Pub for their weekly Open Mic. It was a great time, and I met some awesome people while I was there. Can’t wait to get back up that way again soon!

On Sunday, I took an even longer drive up to Prince Albert for a fundraiser to benefit a local mental health drop-in centre called NEST. It was a small but mighty event and it was really refreshing to see some old-school punk rock DIY in action. Honestly made me feel like a teenager again. Hoping that turns into another gig or another outing that way sometime soon.

Coming up this Saturday, I’ve got an audition for Telemiracle, a regular television fundraiser here in Saskatchewan that’s having its 50th season in 2026! It’s with a spirit of learning that I say, I don’t know if I’ll get the gig, but it would just be nice if I did. If I don’t get the gig, I know I’ll learn from the experience. But how cool would it be to say I was on Telemiracle 50? Plus, being able to say I qualified will really help me to have something to say about myself when I apply for gigs. Ok, who am I kidding? I want to get this one.

I’ve also got a few new gigs coming up in Saskatoon and Regina:

  • November 11 – Paved Arts, Saskatoon – Bloom Entertainment open mic
  • November 14 – Art Bar, Saskatoon – Saskatchewan Nights Live
  • December 10 – Bushwakker, Regina – Folk Night
  • December 17 – The Cure, Regina – Cure-as-Folk Fundraiser for Souls Harbour

I’ve had two people reach out to me in the last week, commenting on how busy I am and how much they’re enjoying seeing me working. Happy to see that it’s not just my perception that things are rolling; things really are happening!
