It's been over a month since my last post, and that's far too long. As mentioned in my last post, I've been contemplating moving this blog to another platform but after some consideration and research, I think it's best to leave it right here. My motivation to move it was driven by the thought of monetization, but I really don't think that a barely regionally known kazooist blogging about his shows is really a monetizable gig. Besides, this is more a promotional item than something to earn off of.
December was super busy, lots of shows around Xmas and open mics to practice at. I participated in my first-ever Band Swap, a 24-hour marathon where you're grouped up with a bunch of random musicians with the goal of learning a 20-minute set in a day. I also performed at the pre-record for TeleMiracle last Friday, a nerve-wracking but rewarding event.
I have one more major item on my schedule that I'm working on, a fundraiser show I'm putting on for Telemiracle next Saturday. I, of course, hope we attract a lot of folks and raise a good amount of money for the cause. Hopefully, the weather improves because WOW is it cold out right now.
After that, we get into February. Once again, I'm planning on participating in FAWM for the month. I've even taken the first week of the month off to get set up and into the groove. I want to take that time to do some of the "paperwork" jobs related to this. I need to start assembling the remainder of my invoices and things before tax season starts. I also want to start including live-streaming as part of my offerings so I'll spend some time experimenting with that during my week off. Keep an eye out for that!
And again, a couple of other under-the-radar projects happening. My secret merch project is dragging on and on. I'm contemplating a new direction for it because it's just taking far too long. And it's getting near to the time where I need to put together some kind of a record. I think 2026 will at least set me well on that path, if not actually result in the production of something.
More to come, I'll start picking up this blog more often so you can keep informed!
