My debut performance in Moose Jaw is one month away! I've been practicing hard and I've got a set I'm really proud of ready for the show. But, keeping motivated to practice has been challenging. To be honest, even understanding what I need pratice on has been a challenge. So, I took to the stage at Open Mic last night to get some reps on stage and get a feel for what I might need to work on.
It was a very busy night with lots of performers. I ended up near the end of the night and agreed to just do one song. For so many reasons, I'm glad I did. I was able to do a fantastic performance of my song "Meal Prepper" and since I was off stage early, there was some time for me to interact with the host - I showed her how to play kazoo and hummed a song with her. I think that interaction was more connecting and more memorable than the second song I had planned.
I managed to make some fantastic connections last night and it's given me that little bit of mojo I've been looking for to go back to the practice room with. I need to ensure that I get out to Open Mic many more times in the next month.
And - I got a great video of my performance to add to the ol' video portfolio. Check it out!
